Appointments that can’t be missed, discharges that happen at odd hours, and drivers who understand neither is a normal taxi job.
A hospital run is not a normal fare. Appointments get delayed, discharges happen when they happen, and the passenger may be tired, in pain or anxious about being late. That needs a driver who waits patiently, helps to the door and doesn’t rush anyone into the car.
We cover the Bristol Royal Infirmary, Southmead, the BRI oncology and outpatient departments, Weston General and further afield to Exeter, Taunton and Cardiff where treatment requires it.
Chemotherapy, dialysis and physiotherapy mean the same journey repeatedly, often when driving yourself isn’t safe or possible. We set these up as a standing arrangement with the same familiar drivers, fixed fares, and the flexibility for appointments that overrun.
If a disability or health condition makes commuting difficult, the government’s Access to Work scheme can fund taxi travel to and from work — often in full. We invoice the scheme directly for a number of Bristol passengers, so no money changes hands on the journey.
The paperwork is more manageable than it looks, and we’re happy to help with the practical side. Read our guide to funded travel to work or get in touch to set it up.
